What Preparations Are Needed Before Running a Paper Core Machine?
Preparations before running:
1.Prepare the raw paper tapes
Cut the base paper into tapes of the specified width. The relationship between tape width and core inner diameter (endless belt) is given in the calculation method for core tape width and angle. The first sheet should be the same width as the belt or 1.2 mm wider. Have various tapes within this range ready.
2.Apply lubricating oil to the inside of the bottom ply
The bottom ply rotates along the outer circumference of the fixed mandrel towards the cutting head. Because the fixed mandrel does not move, the tape slides and rotates on the surface of the mandrel; to reduce the friction between them, an appropriate amount of lubricant must be applied to the contact surface between the bottom tape and the mandrel. Commonly used lubricants include liquid paraffin, refined vegetable oil and silicone oil. Too much lubricant causes slipping, which is counterproductive during core making. Too little lubricant, or the wrong type of lubricant, will prevent the tape from running properly on the fixed mandrel. The tape feed speed must match the drive belt speed, and the tape entry angle must always be kept correct; this is a prerequisite for producing high-quality paper cores.
3.Prepare the adhesive for the second and Nth plies
The adhesive commonly used is a fast-drying chemical paste (polyvinyl acetate).
4.Electrical connections
After connecting the three-phase power supply, first run the machine without load and check that the motor rotates in the correct direction. Once the motor runs normally without load, feed the excitation current into the clutch so that the output shaft rotates in the same direction as the motor, then slowly adjust the potentiometer on the controller and the machine head will start running.
5.Connecting the compressed air line
This machine uses compressed air to drive the blade for core cutting. All air pipes on the machine are already connected; simply connect the air supply to the inlet pipe and adjust the required air pressure (normally maintained at 0.4~0.6Mpa).
Running
1.Place the various paper tapes of the specified width on the paper supply stand.
2.Lead the bottom tape out from the reel position, pass it under the paper guide rack and over the waxing or oiling roller, then wind the tape onto the fixed mandrel, and finally bring the tape into the correct entry position on the mandrel at the correct angle.
3.Once the entry angle of the bottom ply has been set, start the motor at low speed so that the driving roller rotates slowly, then gradually tension the drive belt and the paper core is formed. If, during forming, the tape overlaps or the gap between tape turns is too large, this is because the beam angle or the tape entry angle is incorrect; the angle can be adjusted using the beam angle adjustment handwheel. After the above operating sequence, the bottom tape driven by the belt will already be able to wind a normal single-ply paper core.
4.The second ply enters from the opposite direction to the bottom ply. After the second ply is coated with adhesive, it is fed in over the top of the fixed mandrel through the paper guide rack, and the second ply must fall in the middle of the seam of the first ply. The angle is adjusted in the same way as for the bottom ply.
5.Adjusting the core cut-off length
The required paper core length for cutting is obtained through the distance between the infrared measuring bars.
